Outline
-Miriam Dueñas was born in Pinar del Río, where she made her first studies of Painting.
-Influence of her parents in promoting her into being creative.
-Experience alphabetizing in Guanahacabibes.
-Admission exams for the ENA (National School of Arts), in 1963, and her years at the school. Toughness of those years.
-Works with Enrique Núñez Rodríguez at the Teatro Martí, in 1969 and 1970.
-In 1970, along with Maria Elena Molinet, she made the costume designs for Los días del agua, from Manuel Octavio Gómez.
-She worked for 13 years in the Teatro Político Bertolt Brecht, with Miriam Lezcano and other directors.
-Experience in the musical theater with Jesus Gregorio.
-Her work as a costume designer for movies during the 80´s and 90´s. Special features of the costumes for Fresa y Chocolate
-Shows and other movies: El viajero inmóvil, from Tomás Piard.
-Work in Fresa y Chocolate (the musical), with Tony Diaz, 20 years after the film.
-Cuban social context at the time: poor general education.
-Advice to young designers: design is everywhere, and designers have to be always alert.
