The first professional production of this Off-Off Broadway cult favorite had 18 shows in the month of February with English and Spanish productions alternating. This is Candy Darling's comeback to Off Off Broadway after working with Andy Warhol. Tom Eyen has been included mistakenly as director of this English production starring Candy Darling. The Spanish staging had played sucessfully at INTAR the year before (1972). For information on the Spanish production alternating with this one, please click here.
Tom Eyen had chosen to direct The White Whore and the Bit Player when his Theatre of the Eye Repertory Company joined La Mama as a repertory company. It played in Cafe La Mama November 1971 starring Madeleine le Roux and Sommer Sally. In December and January it moved to Circle in the Square before their advertised European tour.
