Director, actor, costume designer, set designer, producer, adapter

Mónica Guffanti is one of the most important actresses of the contemporary Cuban theatre scene. She was originally trained in ballet and arrived in Cuba under a contract with the Alicia Alonso Ballet Company. Contemporary dance served as her bridge into theater, and she was discovered as an actress in the late 1960s. This discovery launched her extremely successful career and converted her into one of the most indispensable actresses of Cuban theater in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Guffanti has also worked in cinema, television, and is a Professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte. Her work with Teatro Estudio, Grupo Buscon, and Teatro El Publico has allowed her to work throughout Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States.
